Kyrgyzstan, officially the Kyrgyz Republic, is a landlocked country in Central Asia. It is bordered by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and China. Its capital and largest city are Bishkek. Kyrgyzstan's history spans a variety of cultures and empires.
CLIMATE: The climate varies regionally, the low-lying Fergana Valley in the southwest is subtropical and extremely hot in summer with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius. The northern foothills are temperature and the Tian Shan varies from dry continental to poor climate depending on elevation. In the coldest area temperatures are sub-zero for around 40 days in winter, and even some desert areas experience constant snowfall in this time. In the lowlands, the temperature ranges from around -6 degrees in January to 24 degrees in July.
The population of Kyrgyzstan: The population of Kyrgyzstan totals around 6 million people. City dwellers account for 34.1% of the population, and the rest are rural populations and nomadic shepherds. Though the Kyrgyz are the main ethnic group, there are over 80 total ethnic groups in Kyrgyzstan including Uzbeks, Russian, Uyghurs, Tatars, and even Germans.
Form of Government: Kyrgyzstan is a unitary parliamentary republic. Provinces and Districts: Kyrgyzstan consists of seven provinces and two independent cities with the same status as provinces are Bat-ken, Osh, Jalalabad, Naryn, Issyk Kul, Chuy and Talas, and the two cities are Bishkek and Osh.
Currency: The Kyrgyz som is the official currency, and it divides into 100 tyiyns. Banknotes in circulation are in denominations of 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000, and 5000 soum, while coins are in denominationsof1,3,5 and 10 soum. Tyiyn is rarely seen and used.
